Book Review

Sheilagh McCullough is a wild child. She’s smart. She’s the life of the party. Except when boredom sets in. Then Sheilagh does nearly anything and everything that could be dangerous. The real problem is that Sheilagh is lonely and feels like everyone ignores her unless she is doing something wrong. Now that she is at college, classes are easy for her. Almost too easy. Sheilagh has a genius IQ so the classes should be an easy A. For Sheilagh, anything less than an A would be humiliating. So, when she turns in the essay paper for Philosophy and receives less than expected, Sheilagh is angry and confused. Then something unexpected happens.

Dr. Alec Devereux noticed Sheilagh right away. He knows she has a brilliant mind. Yet she refused to excel and use that mind to expand her thinking. It wasn’t just what she could accomplish. Alec wanted Sheilagh and felt more alive than ever before just looking at her in the classroom. That made him happy. Still, he worried. Alec is the teacher. They could get into trouble. Even more, than how her family reacted when she brought him home.

Lydia Michaels digs deep into the philosophy for knowledge is power and understanding human nature is necessary. Both Sheilagh and Alec grew as prominent issues forced both to take a good hard look inside. A mistress of words, Lydia broke down walls opening up a world of beauty Alec and Sheilagh needed on their journey to a happily ever after.
